During my Stay in Ghana in February of 1998 I had the pleasure of runnning accross Chief Togbe Degenu who we meet earlier on this website at our temple opening. I sat down with Chief Degenu to get an African propective of Buddhism and I could not understand how so many common African people could adapt to Buddhism. I wanted to know more about what happen with the SGI and I wanted to learn more about Buddhism in Africa. Click on any picture to load the Video file and meet Chief Togbe Degenu Cheif of over a million in Ghana. He was introducted to Buddhism while in college in Ghana.
This is our first interview with Chief Togbe Degenu in 1998 at the Ghana Temple opening.
In June of 1998 I re-visited Ghana and I met Chief after a Sunday meeting and I asked him the feeling of having a Temple in Ghana.
Did you know that it is eaiser for a traditional African out of a villiage traditional religious practice to practice Buddhism and doing Gongyo and Chanting than it is for the person to practice Christianity? We asked Cheif Degenu to explain this to us. |
